Broadcast

What is a broadcast

A broadcast is a message sent simultaneously to all approved members of your organisation. Each member receives an encrypted copy of the broadcast — no two copies are identical. Members cannot reply to a broadcast; it is a one-way announcement channel.

For the cryptographic delivery model behind broadcasts, see Broadcast Messages.

Who can send broadcasts

Only organisation administrators can send a broadcast.

Sending a broadcast

Click Send Broadcast in the portal. Type your message. The portal will show you the count of members who will receive the broadcast. Review the message and click Confirm & Send to dispatch.

Broadcasts are delivered to all approved members. Verify your recipient list before sending.

Confirmation step

The portal requires explicit confirmation before a broadcast is sent. There is no undo after confirmation.

What is logged

The audit log records the sender of the broadcast, the timestamp, and the number of members who received it. The audit log does not record the content of the broadcast message.

Rate limiting

Broadcasts are rate-limited to prevent abuse. The limit applies per organisation and is configurable by Attomus.

Broadcasts vs groups

  • Broadcasts are one-way announcements to all approved members. Organisation administrators send them; members cannot reply.
  • Groups are ongoing conversation threads where subset of members can collaborate. Any group member can send messages.

Use broadcasts for organisation-wide announcements; use groups for team collaboration.
